It’s that exciting time of year when I start booking in trials for my upcoming brides. If you’re wondering how to best prepare for your session, I’ve created this guide to walk you through exactly what to expect – and how to make the most of it.
Your Trial Is a Creative Collaboration
Think of your trial as a working session – much like a bespoke dress fitting. It’s not just about the end result, it’s about building that look together. You’ve likely already spent time gathering inspiration, imagining how you want to feel and look on your day. The trial is where we take all of that and begin to create something truly you.
You’ll have completed a pre-trial questionnaire, giving me insight into the direction you’re envisioning. From there, we’ll start piecing together your ideal look with expert guidance, a little artistry, and lots of conversation.
And here’s something I always say: If you leave your trial 80% happy, that’s a great place to be. Why? Because the final 20% (maybe it’s a different lipstick shade or a new twist on your eye makeup) is the part we refine together. It’s all part of the process.

Trial Timeline – What to Expect
20 Mins – Tea, Coffee & Consultation
We’ll begin with a relaxed chat over a warm drink. I want to hear everything – your dress, flowers, colour palette, bridesmaids’ looks – it all helps inform the perfect hair and makeup direction.
1 hr 10 Mins – Hair Prep
Here’s where we start prepping your hair for styling. If you’re considering hair extensions, we’ll colour match and fit them during this time too.
1 hr 20 Mins – Makeup Application
The fun begins! I’ll work in natural light wherever possible, and once your base is in place, we’ll move to the mirror so you can guide the final touches.
50 Mins – Hair Styling
This is where your hairstyle comes to life. You’ll be facing the mirror while I work, and I’ll be asking questions to make sure it’s aligned with your vision.
20 Mins – Tweaks & Photos
We’ll try out veils, accessories, and make any adjustments you’d like. Then it’s time to take photos – lots of them – to reflect on later.
Total Session Time: 4 Hours
Please allow the full time. This is not a session to rush – it’s your space to explore and perfect your bridal look.

Hair Trial Tips
- Keep your Pinterest board simple – 4–6 images is perfect. We’ll build something beautiful from your favourite elements.
- If you already have your veil or accessories, bring them! If not, I have some beautiful options we can try, including Eden B hair accessories.
- Wash your hair the night before or morning of your trial using double shampoo and light conditioner. Avoid leave-in products or styling sprays.
Thinking about extensions?
I offer complimentary colour matching and trial application using Milk & Blush 100% Remy human hair extensions. These blend seamlessly for added volume, length or texture – no commitment required for the trial.
Makeup Trial Tips
- Come with a list of what you do and don’t love. If you’ve had your makeup done before, think about what worked (or didn’t).
- Feel free to bring along any holy grail products – a blush you love, your signature lipstick – we can incorporate them into the look.
- Sensitive skin? Eczema or allergies? Let me know in advance – I use a hypoallergenic skincare range designed especially for delicate skin types.
- Keep your makeup on after the trial if possible. Observe how it wears, how it photographs, and how it makes you feel.

Aftercare & Feedback
After your trial, I’ll ask you to reflect. Take notes. Send me feedback. Did anything shift throughout the day? Did the lashes feel heavy? Did the foundation wear well?
From there, I’ll compile a full face chart, hairstyle notes, and any feedback to ensure everything is locked in for the big day.
Want a second look for the evening?
Let’s plan it. Whether it’s a bold lip switch-up or full glam transformation, I offer return services for evening restyling.
A Few Gentle “Don’ts” to Keep in Mind
This experience is meant to be enjoyable, unrushed, and totally you – so here are a few things to avoid, so we can make sure your trial goes beautifully:
Don’t try to cut corners on time.
There’s a reason we allow a full 4 hours – this is a creative process that needs space to breathe. Rushing only adds pressure (and we don’t do pressure here).
Don’t overwhelm yourself with too much inspo.
A few well-curated images go much further than 50 conflicting styles. And try to limit the number of outside opinions – you know that expression, “too many cooks”? It applies here too.
Don’t bring an entourage.
Bring only your best hype girl. Whether that’s your mum, your maid of honour, or a trusted friend – choose someone who will be calm, kind, and honest. This isn’t the time for too many opinions or pressure; this is a moment just for you.
Don’t stress about getting it 100% perfect on the day.
Everything at your trial is tweakable – that’s the point. It’s completely normal to change your mind on a lipstick shade or swap out a hair parting. Flexibility is built in.
Remember, this is about finding the look that makes you feel like the best version of you. The trial is just the beginning – a space to explore, refine and bring your bridal beauty vision to life.
